City Hall is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, except for federal holidays.

Before conducting any excavation, it is essential to identify the locations of underground utilities to ensure safety and compliance with state regulations. In Iowa, you can achieve this by contacting Iowa One Call. This service notifies all affected utility companies, which will then mark the underground utility lines at no cost to you.

Please note that locate requests should be made at least 48 hours (not including the day of the notice, weekends and holidays) before starting your excavation. This lead time allows utility companies sufficient time to mark their lines. A ticket is valid for 25 calendar days from the time of the call.
The Larchwood City Tree Dump is located on Cherry Avenue west of town adjacent to the City Lagoons and is open 24/7. The site is monitored to prevent unauthorized or illegal dumping. For more information, please contact City Hall at (712)-477-2366.

Utility bills are mailed our monthly, the first of every month. Payment is due by the 20th of each month unless the 20th falls on a Saturday, in which case, payment is due on Friday. If the 20th falls on a Sunday, the payment is due the next business day following the 20th.
WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE U.S. MAIL DELIVERY. FAILURE TO RECEIVE BILL DOES NOT EXCUSE PAYMENT.

If two or more checks are dishonored within a six month period, the utility shall require future payments to be made by cash, cashier’s check, postal money order or electronic transfer.

Residences located on Hyland drive and West (within city limits) are on city electric. If your residence is outside of these parameters, please visit Lyon County REC or call 712-472-2506 to set up your electric.

Permits & Licenses
No buildings or other structures shall be hereafter erected, reconstructed, altered or added to without first securing from the council a permit therefore. A Complete showing and description the real estate involved and the location of the building on the real estate shall be filed with the application for the permit. Inspection of lot pins will be conducted by the Public Works Director. If lot pin location is not known a Certified copy of the lot survey shall be given to the Zoning Administrator and the Public Works Director will inspect before Building Permit will be approved. Chapter 1 Article 2: Building Regulations
